About.
"Over the years, I have found solace in movement practices and have become increasingly drawn to the power of supported rest as an antidote to our often busy and stressful lives. I am curious about the stories our bodies tell, and the memories they hold and feel yoga and movement practices offer valuable resources to learn, feel, communicate and gently guide ourselves back towards balance and integration, one breath at a time"
Clare is a yoga teacher, therapeutic dance practitioner, early childhood educator, forest school teacher, mother and is currently completing her Dance Movement Therapist registration. She loves the idea that we can be bodyful, as well as mindful, and values the wealth of wisdom, emotion and somatic knowledge that our bodies hold and can share.
Clare has a passion for movement. She studied ballet and contemporary dance at the Royal Academy of Dance in London, and went on to attain a first class BA hons Degree in Dance Studies from Surrey University. This love of movement and communication, in particular sign language, enabled her to get involved in a variety of projects, including integrated community dance projects and assisting with the development of the Simpson Board. ( A visual tool to assist people with limited physical movement and non- verbal communication to choreograph and express themselves through dance.)
This wonderful experience led to education and advocacy work within the Health and Disability sector and it was in this field that she continued after arriving in New Zealand. ( Developing and providing individualised support services for people who's lives were complicated by disabilities.)
After becoming a mother, she found that yoga was a effective way of relaxing and finding some life balance. The science of Yoga can assist us to move gracefully and with ease through our lives and regular practice and contemplation enables us to build a firm base of support for when life is busy, stressful and fragmented. Effective breathing has huge benefits on both physical and emotional well being.
